Project 004 · ASA-CF, unfinished
Rear bumper cutout
A hand-finished bumper insert that opens up the rear profile and gives the first-generation Copen a sharper, motorsport-inspired stance.
# The build
The rear bumper cutout is the most involved CopenWorks exterior project: a multi-part insert designed to reshape the original bumper and reveal a more purposeful rear profile.
The printed ASA-CF sections need to be assembled, bonded, sanded and painted before installation. Strong, weather-resistant flexible adhesive and careful clamping are essential to keep the piece aligned while it cures.
Installation requires cutting the original bumper. Test-fit repeatedly, mark the cut line while the insert is clamped in position and remove less material than you think you need—you can always trim the opening afterwards.
